Below are some of the most common questions that clients of Concentric Concepts have posed. If you do not see a question answered here don't hesitate to let us know!
What can a website do for me? The answer to this question is neither short nor easy. With a little research and thought you can find hundreds of reasons, but there are a few general statements that may help you realize your needs. First a website can reach millions of people that might not otherwise be available. Second, customers can view products, services, or whatever you want to share from the comfort of their own home. No matter what type of business you are in, their are ways to grow and make money on the web for you. Why does it matter how it looks as long as it works? When you recieve a visitor to your site, they will instantly percieve the quality of your services or products. The first impression a customer or potential customer gets depends on the appearance of your website. A visitor will be interested and explore your site if it is appealing and easy to navigate. You are marketing yourself and your business to the world over the Internet and it is important to show your best. I don't think a website will do anything for me, am I right? No, many people overlook the various products, services, or business processes they can include on a website. Any communication or interactions that happen within your business can be made easier and more effecient by the web. Your business will save money and time while appealing to a much greater audience, the world. What is a Domain Name and Why is it Important to Choose a Good One?: Your domain name will also be your website name ala www.mybusiness.com. Your domain name, ideally, should tell a user about what you do. For instance www.redbrickdesign.com. This domain lets you know that it is design related... You don't know what sort of design, but the curiosity to click on the link is much higher. Avoid amiguous domain names, if possible. I often get ribbed by other web designers for the Concentric Concepts title. It doesn't really state in an obvious manner what we do, as a company. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If you are promoting a new website, I recommend finding a domain name that easily defines what you do. Should I get a .com, .net. org domain? Which is the Best?: There are a number of domains that are available. The most popular being: .com .net .org .gov .edu. Of course there are country named domains as well, like .uk or United Kingdom or .hu for Hungary. A .com or a .net are generally the most popular choices. They don't really decide how many visitors come to your site. The actual domain name, if it's clear, is very good. The content is even more important. Having a successful website is a sensitive symbiosis. A good web site really is the sum of its parts: Semantic coding and content, clean design, relevant content and domain name, and good SEO practices. So, I want to establish a strong presence on the Web. But where do I start? The four easy steps we provide below will guide you in the direction of a professionally designed, developed and marketed Web site.
